Same Sex Wedding Photographer Manchester

The Portico Library is the perfect Manchester wedding venue for intimate wedding ceremonies in the heart of the city. The Portico Library has a whimsical and magical feel to it, full of books and nostalgia and history. There are two rooms, one main large room and a smaller, more private and intimate space. David and Gabriel had their celebrant ceremony in the small library room surrounded by their closest family and friends, a humble ceremony of love and acceptance.

David and Gabriel started the morning together in their home and their two labrador dogs. They decided they wanted a slow and relaxing morning to get ready together until their family and friends joined them at their home before we headed into the city for some pictures. With beautiful charcuterie boards and champagne flowing, laughter filled the house and it was such a fun morning celebration. David was insistent I joined in on the pre-wedding celebrations and made sure I had my own glass of champagne, which he kept refilling! I absolutely love when my couples invite me into their home and want me to feel like a guest and a true part of their wedding, so this was such a lovely surprise and felt so welcoming. 

After getting ready together, David and Gabriel wanted some pictures with their dogs at home, so we headed into their back garden. The dogs had lovely silk bow collars and looked very beautiful in their cute wedding outfits. One of their friends then arrived in a drivers costume, complete with hat and gloves, and we got in the car and drove to Castlefield.

We walked around Castlefield and stopped by the railway viaducts for some epic, modern pictures. Castlefield has some awesome architecture and stone arches which make for great photo backdrops. Short on time, we hailed a taxi to St. Peters Square and had to stop at the iconic town hall arches. We then walked towards the Portico Library for them to greet their guests and get ready for their personalised ceremony.

David and Gabriel had a beautifully personal celebrant-led ceremony in the intimate Portico Library in Manchester city centre. They had the awesome SJ conduct a ceremony full of readings and personal stories, and being a part of their ceremony and hearing all about their love, felt like such a privilege. This is one of the many reasons why I love celebrant weddings – I love feeling like I know my couples so much more after their wedding and celebrant ceremonies are such a unique way to share your personalities and make your ceremony unique to you and so much more fun.

After the ceremony, there was even more free-flowing champagne to celebrate and all of the hugs and smiles in the dome room and after their family group pictures, we headed out into Manchester centre for confetti and to walk to the reception.

We walked through Manchester city centre towards the Grand Pacific Hotel. David had dreamed of walking through the city centre with his friends and mum and new husband and the moment itself was so beautiful as they celebrated and smiled through the streets. We stopped for an epic confetti moment which was full of smiles and laughter. A confetti moment was one of the main things David mentioned to me when he booked, and with some beautiful dried rose petal confetti, the moment was perfect.

They decorated the room with handmade macarons, fresh flowers and candles and the vibe of the room was so moody, atmospheric and romantic.

To incorporate Gabriels Spanish heritage, for their intimate wedding reception they hired a Spanish guitarist to serenade them and their guests and it brought all the dancing and all the fun vibes. As their wedding favours, they hired a digital caricaturist to draw their guests and this went down such a hit as they could take their printed pictures home.

They had the most emotional speeches to each other and spent the evening dancing to the Spanish guitarist and laughing the night away. It was such a fun day and an absolute pleasure to be a part of their epic love-filled, wedding celebration.
