Charlie & Chris’ Colourful Wedding at The Out Barn Lancashire
Oh my goodness – I dont even know where to start when talking about how utterly amazing Charlie and Chris’ colourful The Outbarn Wedding was. If you’re a lover of colour and fun weddings, this blog is for you because it’s jam packed with some much personality, whimsy and inspo. Charlie and Chris wanted their wedding to be relaxed and informal and all I can say is that their day was super laid back and happy which was a pleasure to photograph.

Charlie got ready in the new morning prep room which is just across from the main barn and makes for an easy space to get ready in the morning. The space is definitely a lot smaller than the main getting ready cottage but the benefit of being close and full of natural light is a win. So, onto the big showstopper of the wedding; Charlies’ bright fushia pink wedding dress! When she told me before the wedding her plans for the dress and to surprise Chris with it all I can say is that I was elated! Pink is one of my favorite colous and I’m a huge lover of colour in general so I was mega excited. The pink dress paired perfectly with sparkly shoes and a colourful floral crown she’d found from a small business.
Charlie made a showstopping entrance for the ceremony and it was so heartwarming to see Chris’ reaction. If you know me, you’ll know how much I love it when one partner cries when seeing the other for the first time, and seeing how emotional Chris was when he saw Charlie for the first time was so special. One of my favourite moments was when walking back down the aisle together, Charlie couldn’t contain her excitement and did the cutest excited celebration and punched both arms in the air. The celebrations continued with rainbow confetti that Charlie has spent weeks DIYing. Canapes and drinks on the lawn were the perfect way to spend the next few hours before food and photos.
We headed down to the iconic bridge just at the back of The Out Barn and the two of them had a few minutes to talk, laugh and just be together properly for the first time since the ceremony. After their pre-shoot, they were pros infront of the camera and the only direction I needed to give them was where to go because they were so cute and happy together I didn’t need to advise any more than that. The Out Barn has some really beautiful photo locations, and every time I go I never tire of how lovely the Lancashire wedding venune is.
Relaxed Weddings at The Out Barn
Feasting and speeches soon approached and the speeches didn’t disappoint. The speeches were heartlelt and funny; Charlie and Chris have been together for 14 years and so Charlie started her speech by blowing ‘dust’ off the paper. Funnily enough, I was able to catch the set-up a few moments earlier as Charlie and her best friend sprinkled talcum powder onto the pages. It was a really fun and personal element to add to the speech and it caused all the guests, and me, to burst into laughter. Chris’ best men made their speech touching and funny too, but in a nice, sentimental way. Everything about their wedding was full of personality and emotion which was truly a joy.
After food and while the drinks were still free-flowing, we headed down to the fields at the bottom of The Out Barn because Charlie had wanted an epic smoke bomb photo with the wedding party, and omg it was a good idea because the photos are amazing. Each member of the I Do Crew had a different coloured smoke bomb spanning the colours of the rainbow and paired with the blue sky and Charlies’ iconic pink dress, it’s a combo any colour lover would obsess over!

The evening kickstarted with the band knocking it out of the park with an ‘emo half hour’ and Charlie and Chris took a moment alone for a private dance outside the back of the barn which was the perfect end to their relaxed, colourful and joyful wedding at The Out Barn.
