Lake District Photographer at Fairbank Barn Wedding

A beautiful, typical Lake Distric day with showers and sun was the perfect day for Meg and Sams Fairbank Barn wedding. Can you really say you got married in the Lake District if your wedding hasn’t experinced multiple weather states, your outfits ended up a bit muddy and you’ve gazed at the beauty of a lake or tarn while laughing that ‘just married’ giddiness?

The day started with mimosas that were more champagne than orange juice (the right way to make them!) and all of Meg’s squad dressed in cute pyjamas while 80’s, 90’s and 00’s music filled the house. It was such a fun start to the day and the rain, which was already pouring, didn’t dampen spirits at all. Meg and her mum decided to make the bouquets together and spent time in the morning finishing them off by tying the ribbon and everyone got involved to make it fun and relaxed. After a lovely first look with Meg and her dad, we headed, in the rain, to the barn to meet Sam and get ready for the ceremony.

Weddings at Fairbank Barn

Fairbank barn weddings are lisenced for registrar ceremonies, but even if it wasn’t, a humanist or celebrant ceremony is always an option. Sam was one of the most emotional grooms I’ve seen in a long time which was the sweetest moment as he couldn’t help but cry as Meg came down the aisle. I love it when emotions bubble to the surface during the ceremony, because after all it’s the whole reason everyone is there and the most important part of the day.

After the ceremony we headed outside to the covered patio and had a great time with the confetti. As it was still raining, everyone huddled under the covering while enjoying the canapes and spritz. With Lake District weddings, you really cant care too much about the weather, so either choose a Lake District wedding venue that would work regardless of the weather, or embrace the rain. Meg wanted the group photos outside and didn’t want to let the drizzle stop her, it was the right choice and the mountainscape in the background was beautifully misty and whimsical. After the shenanegans of group photos, we headed inside for speeches.

Afterwards, it was time for the portraits and the rain had finally subsided. Meg was determined once against to head to the tarn and didn’t care about the mud around the tarn.

I really love it when couples don’t let the weather effect their day or what they want, and Meg really wanted pictures by the iconic private tarn at Fairbank Barn. We all bundled into the truck and the oweners drove us to the tarn which was so fun and such an adventure. Meg didn’t let the mud or cow maneure deter her and it was so endeering to watch her and Sam frolik and laugh and have fun running through the fields and along the tarn. The photos we took are some of the most whimsical and the beautiful Lake Distict wedding setting didn’t dissapoint.

Afterwards, we headed back to the barn and took took some fun group pictures with Meg and Sams wedding crew and then it was time to dance and party the night away.

One of my all time favourite songs was their first dance song; Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac. This is on my ultimate first dance song list and it’s one of those songs that has an effect on people because you can’t help but sing along and the itch to dance kicks in. The dancefloor flooded and they had props for people to have fun with which is always a good shout when you have guests who aren’t big dancers but want to be involved.

I loved everything about this wedding and if you’re planning a fun and relaxed wedding in the Lake District at Fairbank Barn, let me know because I’d love to be there!
